I just finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, it's really good...the writing style is pretty simple, but the whole dilemma of what it means to be alive is approached in a really cool way, and there may also be a lament of humanity's attitude towards everything being disposable, as well as other philosophizing.

Now go read the book. There's cool stuff and ideas and stuff inside it. Also, it's kind of funny since it's set in 1992, more specifically January 3, 1992. (But hey, that's cool too - you can pretend it's an alternate reality.)
