This picture was taken in Beypazarı - a small(ish) town famous for silverwork and carrots (no kidding! they have a carrot festival every summer!! :D haha. and carrot juice..which is surprisingly and oddly delicious) Anyways, so this place is cool; it's an Ottoman town that has been mostly preserved - the buildings maintained or restored to their former glory. There was a hamam (aka Turkish Bath house) from the 1400's and a house/museum that we entered. It is kind of like a toned-down version of Safranbolu..slightly less touristic in that most visitors that we saw were from Ankara or the surrounding area, so they were thrilled that not only did Americans know of their existence, but that we were studying Turkish. The latter was actually a sentiment expressed by most Turks I encountered. Beypazarı is super great for a day trip if you are in the region - it definitely merits a visit!
